The Motor Signal Reading Series jolts poetry and prose reading out of its conventional form. Every event involves an activity of literary co-creation between performer and audience. This month's features readers are Billy Mark and Aaron Foley.
Billy Mark is an experimental artist whose work is rooted in the art of poetic freestyle. Based in poetry, his work extends to areas of music, theater, sculpture, movement and installation. His current work explores the production of improvisational books and other multi-disciplin-ary long forms of improvisation. A graduate of the California Institute of the Arts, his writing has been published in The Guidebook of Alternative Nows and SEEN magazine. His work has been performed at REDCAT (Los Angeles), Spiel Festival (Austria), Detroit Contemporary, and Bushwick Open Studios (New York).
Aaron Foley is the editor of BLAC Detroit Magazine and author of "How to Live in Detroit Without Being a Jackass." He is a Detroit native whose work has appeared in several local and national publications.
