SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29 [10–4 PM]
In this one-day workshop, participants will explore relief printing in order to create a variety of hand-printed patterned papers. Using Signal-Return's proofing presses, we will be able to combine traditional and contemporary techniques, including wood type, metal rule, hand-carved linoleum blocks, and photopolymer plates made from digital files. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own small printing blocks, so bring a simple design to carve (no larger than 5" x 5")if you'd like. No experience necessary.
Instructor: Lee Marchalonis is Signal-Return’s printer-in-residence. Lee has degrees in printmaking and book arts and has taught at Parsons the New School and the Center for Book Arts in New York and Pyramid Atlantic in Maryland. She has printed professionally at Yee-Haw Industries in Knoxville and at the Kala Institute in Berkeley.
