This month’s selection is based on an historic structure that has proven to be very durable when disaster strikes! The sewn-on-tapes paper-cased book is constructed using no adhesives at all, allowing the materials to adjust to extreme humidity and flooding, while keeping the textblock protected from the worst of the damage. This style of binding is excellent for sketchbooks—not only can it withstand lots of wear and tear from traveling, it opens flat to allow comfortable drawing right up to the fold.
