SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 [10–4 PM]
Ideal for chapbooks and image-based work, this structure can add elegance and formality to a slender textblock, but is not complicated to assemble. Relatively quick to produce, this structure is great for editioned work. In addition to a hands-on approach, this workshop will include discussions about materials (board, specialty and commercial papers, flexibility and movement of interacting parts, as well as considerations of proportions.) Please bring ideas, questions, and work to discuss! No bookbinding experience necessary. All materials provided.
Instructor: Lee Marchalonis is Signal-Return’s printer-in-residence. Lee has degrees in printmaking and book arts and has taught at Parsons the New School and the Center for Book Arts in New York and Pyramid Atlantic in Maryland. She has printed professionally at Yee-Haw Industries in Knoxville and at the Kala Institute in Berkeley.
