Create the sketchbook you’ve always wanted! Participants will start by choosing paper stock (choose from a medium- or a heavyweight) and determining format, then we will bind and cover to make a durable sketchbook that won’t fall apart. Further customization options such as an elastic or ribbon closure and inset label will be demonstrated. If you have a favorite paper you’d like to use, please bring it.
Price includes $15 material fee. Studio provides the following materials: paper, sewing thread, bookboards, a selection of decorative papers and fabrics, adhesive, glue brushes.
Students should bring: bone folder, ex-acto knife and unused blades (available at Blick)
Instructor: Lee Marchalonis is Signal-Return’s printer-in-residence. Lee has degrees in printmaking and book arts and has taught at Parsons the New School and the Center for Book Arts in New York and Pyramid Atlantic in Maryland. She has printed professionally at Yee-Haw Industries in Knoxville and at the Kala Institute in Berkeley.
