Collaborative Posters with Test Prints Workshop

$150.00

Instructed by Elizabeth Isakson-Dado (The Aquarius House)

Saturday, September 27, 10am-4pm

Class Size: Maximum 8

After a brief introduction and overview of the exhibition Chance Operations in the Signal-Return Gallery with curator Liz Isakson-Dado (The Aquarius House), participants will work together in the studio and take home their own original monoprints.

This workshop will guide participants to overprint on test prints, as an outlet to create original, one of a kind monoprints.  We’ll discuss the act of creative re-use and chance operations as being a keystone of printmaking as an art form.

With a focus on 11x17 inch, poster-sized prints, we will use seconds, proofs, test prints, pieces of makeready, and otherwise cast-off prints to create new artwork with wood type printed text.  Each person will set their own wood type from the Signal-Return collection in response to the test prints, then overprint their text. The results will be surprising, and differ from one print to the next.

We’ll also create a small edition of every participant's message printed on top of each other, and each attendee can take home a copy! Each work will also be photographed for a digital archive of the event, and all workshop attendees will have access to images.
