Money raised at the Silent Auction will go toward supporting Signal-Return's programming, which includes expanding printmaking workshop offerings while making them affordable to a diverse audience.
Admission is free and open to the public. The evening will feature a DJ, local food trucks, and a cash bar featuring Atwater Brewery beer. In addition to viewing and bidding on auction items guests can also view demonstrations by professionally trained instructors in printing and papermaking.
Letterpress-related carnival games will inspire donations by providing entertainment and a better understanding of this special art and craft.
“Our fundraising goal for fiscal 2015 is $50,000, which will allow us to underwrite introductory letterpress workshops for attendees—more than 480 people,” says Artistic Director Lynne Avadenka. “The Type-OH!-Rama event will kick this off in style, and we hope to bring in five to 10 percent of our goal that night. Signal-Return is the only place in Michigan that offers a complete roster of educational workshops furthering the art of letterpress printing.”
