Group Visits
Thank you for your interest in bringing your group to Signal-Return—a community space located in the Eastern Market neighborhood of Detroit, Michigan. We are a working letterpress studio dedicated to teaching and producing, as well as a retail store stocked primarily with the work of Michigan-based artists. Because we are a nonprofit all of the money we make goes back into our operating budget to support our studio activities.
We offer a variety of options for groups:
Schedule a tour
We provide you with a 30 minute guided tour of our print studio and give your group an overview of what we do and how we do it. This includes information about our presses, our type collection, and how the presses work. Participants: minimum 5, maxium 30.
Cost: FREE. Tours must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
Schedule a demo
We provide you with a guided tour as described above and provide a one hour typesetting and printing demo. Includes 1 copy of a printed piece to take away for each participant. Participants: minimum 8; maximum 20.
Cost: $35/person. Demo must be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance with a 50% deposit paid; the balance is due the day of the demo.
Book a workshop for your Students
We offer a four hour group workshop in basic letterpress printing for students 18 and older. Per person fee includes materials, instruction by our professional staff, and a take-away printed piece. Participants: minimum 8, maximum 12.
Cost: $50/per student. Workshops must be booked at least 3 weeks in advance with a 50% deposit paid; the balance is due on the day of the workshop.
arrange a private class
We create a custom six hour workshop in letterpress printing for you and your friends/family. Participants: minimum 8, maximum 10.
Cost: $150 person plus $150 venue rental, includes materials. Workshops must be booked at least 3 weeks in advance with a 50% deposit paid; the balance is due on the day of the workshop. Extra fees applicable for special materials.

Cancellation policy
Workshops may be cancelled for a full refund with 24 hours or more notice. Cancellation within 24 hours of the workshop results in forfeiture of any fees paid. Custom events must be cancelled 1 week in advance for a full refund. Less than a week’s notice results in forfeiture of any fees paid.
