Mother’s Day Cards - Linoleum Carving Workshop

  • Signal-Return 9301 Kercheval Avenue Detroit, MI, 48214 United States (map)

Handmade cards are such a sweet gesture and moms love them! In this workshop you will make two color prints on 4″x 6″ blank cards (envelopes included). Each participant will make at least 5 cards. We can trade with each other as well!

This linocut printmaking workshop is intended for people with little to no previous experience in printmaking. This workshop covers an in-depth explanation of image transfer, printmaking papers, carving tools, registration, inking, and printing by hand and with small personal presses. It offers the hands-on experience needed to create an edition of your design.

This is an image based, greeting card workshop. Come prepared with ideas of what you’d like your card to look like and/or images that you plan to carve. If you have an idea involving text, keep in mind that this will need to be reversed and hand carved from the linoleum material.

Linoleum carving is a common method used by printers to create illustrations and other shape-based elements in their print projects.

Cost of workshop includes materials, instruction by S-R staff and takeaway prints. Paper in this workshop is from French Paper Company, a small Michigan Paper Mill around for more than 140 years.
